A Bit About Me as A Counsellor
If you are tired of suffering in silence and feeling alone…
I understand that opening up to someone, sharing your most vulnerable memories, thoughts and emotions could be very much uncomfortable, even scary. Fear is a natural reaction to moving closer to the truth, and I am here for you, with you, on this journey you are about to embark. I will follow your lead, cheer you on. At times, if it is ok with you, I might take your hands, or challenge you gently, along the way. I hope this journey leads you to more clarity, peace, and growth.
My Approach to Counselling
I am a Chinese-Canadian and first generation immigrant. My personal and professional experience helps me appreciate diverse and complex factors in the helping/healing processes. I strive to hold a culturally sensitive, safe space for clients. I value each client’s unique lived experience and worldview and continuously reflect on my own values and biases.
I am passionate to support clients of all cultural backgrounds in their journeys to gain insights about themselves, their family history, their relationships and pursue changes that are most meaningful to them. I see my role is to help you cultivate self-awareness, self-compassion, curiosity, resilience, and sense of choice and empowerment in your journey.
I provide counselling in English and Mandarin.
I received my Master of Education in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). I welcome clients of all cultures, genders, sexual orientations, abilities and relationship styles.
I am also an advocate for mental health and wellness of women (including trans-women) of all ages, parents, folks of Asian Canadian heritage and immigration/refugee backgrounds. I am a CVAP (Crime Victim Assistant Program) registered counsellor.
